The Revolutionaries have been stars at conferences around the country this month!
Our co-founder, Trina, won The Indus Entrepreneurs Stree Shakti award for being the most promising social entrepreneur of the year! She got a cash prize of Rs. 100, 000, that Kranti is going to use to start a college fund for the oldest Revolutionaries, who will be going to college in 2 years.
Two Revolutionaries, Savita and Bani, attended a conference in New Delhi on Women's Rights and Empowerment organised by PWESCR (Programme on Women's Economic Social and Cultural Rights) , where the actively contributed their experiences as women coming from a marginalised community, but working to empower themselves and other women in their communities.
Yet another Revolutionary, Aparna, participated in the Youth Parliament, that discussed the prospect of sex education in schools and presented the state government with a proposal of a sex education curriculum. Aparna stood out as the lead speaker at the Parliament and was complimented by participants from all other organisations for her "revolutionary" opinions and clear articulation of them.
And finally, we welcome our new stellar staff member, Katie Pollom, to Kranti. Having teaching experience spanning 5 years with Teach for America, she is Kranti's new Director of Education. In the next 6 months she will be designing individualised educational curriculums for each Revolutionary, and creating our Social Justice Education curriculum.
